Swedish smörgåsbord

43200591Smörgåsbord is a typical Swedish thing and can be translated to “Sandwich table.” It’s a buffet type of eating where you can choose from many different dishes and eat as much as you want. A traditional Swedish smörgåsbord consists of both cold and warm dishes; bread, cheese, butter, herring, salmon, meatballs, cold cuts and much more. Even though there’s no desserts on a smorgasbord, you will not be disappointed, I promise you.

The smörgåsbord became popular in Sweden in the 17th century and got internationally known during the New York World’s Fair in 1939.

If you want to attend a smörgåsboard, there are a lot of places to go to, many of them situated on the countryside. Just ask anyone and I guarantee they will help you to the nearest smöregåsbord!
